                                               1907 Kessler Plan

Overview
The Cincinnati Park Board has updated its system-wide master plan. This update addresses the needs and opportunities of the system; promotes preserving and promoting parks as one of Cincinnati's most significant assets; and refines the vision for parks/greenways. It also articulates how to achieve this vision and celebrates 100 years as one of the top planned park systems in America.

Park Board Staff, with assistance from a professional planning team and input from a wide spectrum of partners and citizen committees, and the community at large, directed and participated in a planning process that has culminated in a series of products and celebrations to mark the 100 year anniversaries of the creation of the Board of Park Commissioners (1906) and the first park system master plan by George Kessler, Landscape Architect (1907).

Current Status
After two years of research, public input, meetings, surveys and innovative planning, the Cincinnati Parks Centennial Master Plan is complete! The final plan was presented to the Board of Park Commissioners in June and was unanimously approved. On August 3rd, the plan will be presented to the city's Planning Commission for their adoption and then will go to City Council in September for final approval.

In May, the University of Cincinnati's Design Architecture Art & Planning (DAAP) graphic design students unveiled the results of their year-long collaboration with the Park Board, producing a park visitor's guide, and materials for the new master plan including a travelling exhibit, a short video , and the final report . Thank you to all of the students who contributed to this project, and thank you to all who contributed to the master plan. Please join the Park Board in celebrating their Centennial Plan and join them in supporting the plan as it is being presented to the Planning Commission and City Council.
